Day 13 - Back on the Road

Lake Powell/Page Arizona

I had a great visit with my family in Utah. Of course it came to an end too fast. As always it was tough to say goodbye.

We stayed with my mom and step dad for the first couple of days. Mom treated us to some good home cooking. Her food is always delicious and was doubly so after being on the road so many days.

Then we went to stay with my sister and brother in law for two days. I had a great time catching up and playing with my nephews and niece.

My brother came out and I got to meet my new nephew who is just 2 months old. He is just about the cutest thing I've ever seen...not that I'm biased or anything.

I got to visit my grandpa and grandma, and got a quick visit with an old friend.

Before we left I stopped by my dad's grave. It was the first time I've been by since his funeral over 4 years ago. It was also the first time I saw his headstone. I got out of the car alone at first to have a private talk with my dad.

I put some coins we picked up from Canada on his grave. Dad always liked coins. I also took an American flag pin out of my car and left it on the top of his headstone.

It was tougher than I expected. Even after all those years. I broke down as soon as I saw his name.

We set out early this morning. This afternoon we stopped to see the Glen Canyon Dam.

We then drove the short distance to Page too look for a hotel and picked up some awesome pizza.

Tomorrow we will see the Grand Canyon.

(To my family: I love you all and miss you already!)

Mountains close to home.

Beautiful red rock in southern Utah.
